Privacy Policy

Fare-Well Co. is a small end-of-life planning and support practice based in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. I take your privacy seriously, and given the nature of this work, I treat what you share with particular care. This policy explains what I collect, why, and what happens to it. It follows Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
What I collect
Information you give me directly, through the contact form, email, phone, or in our work together: your name, email, phone number, and whatever you choose to tell me about your situation.
Information you give me when you download a free guide or join the email list: your name and email.
Basic, non-identifying information about how the site is used, collected through [Squarespace analytics / Google Analytics], such as pages visited and general location.
If we work together, the practical information needed to provide support, which may include details about your family, your wishes, documents, accounts, and other sensitive matters. This is handled separately and more carefully than anything on the website, and is covered by the written agreement we sign.
Why I collect it
To respond to you and to provide the support you have asked for.
To send you a guide you requested, or the emails you signed up for.
To run and improve the website.
To meet my legal and professional obligations.
I only collect what I need, and I only use it for the reasons above. I will not use your information for anything else without asking you first.
Consent
When you send me a message, download a guide, or sign up for emails, you are consenting to me using your information as described here. You can withdraw consent at any time. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can ask me to remove you from the list or delete your information by writing to trish@farewellco.ca.
Who else is involved
[Squarespace] hosts the website and its forms.
[Email platform] manages the email list and sends the guides and newsletters.
[HoneyBook] manages inquiries, scheduling, agreements, and payments.
[Google] provides analytics and, where used, maps and business listing.
I do not sell your information, and I never trade it. I never receive payment for referring you to another provider, and I only recommend people I would stand behind.
Where your information is stored
Some of these services store and process information on servers outside Canada, including in the United States. That means your information may be subject to the laws of those countries. By using the site and these services, you understand that this may happen. I choose providers who take security seriously.
How long I keep it
I keep your information only as long as I need it for the purpose you gave it, or as long as the law requires. Inquiry messages that do not lead to working together are kept for a reasonable period and then deleted. Records from working together are kept as long as professional and legal obligations require, then securely disposed of.
Keeping it safe
I use reasonable safeguards to protect your information, including secure accounts, strong passwords, and limiting access to what is needed. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, but I treat your information with the care this work demands.
Your rights
You can ask to see the information I hold about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it. Write to me at trish@farewellco.ca and I will respond within a reasonable time. If you have a concern I cannot resolve, you have the right to contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Cookies
The site uses a small number of cookies to function and, where analytics is enabled, to understand how the site is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings.
Children
This site and practice are intended for adults. I do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
I may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed. If a change is significant, I will note it clearly.
