About the support

Do I have to use all three phases?

Not at all, and the opportunity for continuity is there if you want it. One steady presence who already knows you and your family, staying with you as things change instead of starting over with someone new at the hardest moments.

Book a single Before session, steady company through an illness, or after-loss support on its own, in any order, for as long or as little as you need. Whatever you choose, you get room to grieve and breathe alongside handling it all.

Which one is right for me?

Before is for putting your affairs in order while there's still time, so the people you love aren't left guessing later.

Beside is for the stretch when someone is seriously ill or dying, and the immediate days right after a death, when the family needs someone steady who isn't carrying the same grief.

Beyond is for the weeks and months that follow, when the paperwork, the accounts, and the belongings all arrive at once and you need room to grieve alongside handling it.

If you're not sure, start with a free conversation and we'll find it together.

Where does the name Fare-Well Co. come from?

People hear "farewell" and think goodbye. The word you say at the door, at the departure. But it's two words wearing one coat. Fare. Well.

To fare is an old word for how you're getting on. How you're doing, how you're holding up, how you're living. So to fare well isn't about the goodbye at all. It's about life, the whole stretch of it, right up to the last of it.

That's what I'm here for. To help you live with intention today, plan with intention for tomorrow, and provide some company through the hardest parts of it all. The faring, and the farewell.

The "Co." holds the rest. Continuity, because this isn't one appointment but steady support across all three phases. Coordination, because so much of this is pulling the scattered pieces together and lining up the right help so you don't have to. Community and the collective of people, professionals, and local supports I work alongside. And company, because no one should move through this alone.

Scope and boundaries

What does this include, and what doesn't it?

Knowing the edges of what I do is part of how I keep you safe.

What Fare-Well Co. is

  • Structured planning and guidance
  • Practical, emotionally aware support
  • Clarifying wishes, roles, and decisions
  • Sequenced next steps when things feel like too much
  • Companioning through dying, death, and what follows, so no one has to go through it alone

What it isn't

  • Legal advising or document drafting
  • Medical care or MAID eligibility assessment
  • Personal support work
  • Therapy or crisis counselling
  • Financial management
  • Funeral home services

When something you need falls outside what I do, I'll say so plainly and connect you to the right professional. These boundaries protect you, and they exist because I work alongside these professionals, not in place of them.

Is this counselling or therapy?

No. I offer grief companioning, which is presence, witness, and practical guidance from someone who's trauma-informed and trained in grief support. Think of it like a friend who gets it, who won't flinch and won't try to fix anything. It isn't clinical counselling or psychotherapy.

If you're open to or looking for grief counselling or therapeutic support, I work closely with Your Life Design, a PEI counselling practice with both paid and free options for Island residents, and I'm glad to point you there or wherever fits you best.

Can you help if someone is considering or has chosen MAID?

I don't provide medical assistance in dying, and I don't advise on the medical decision or assess eligibility. That's between you and your healthcare team. What I can do is offer steady, non-clinical presence through the emotional and practical side of it, for the person and for the people around them, in the lead-up and on the day. Many people want someone in their corner for that, alongside the care team and never in place of it.

Are you connected to a hospital, funeral home, or other organization?

No. This is an independent practice, and that independence is the point. It means I answer to you, not to an institution, and my only stake in any referral is whether it's right for you. I never pay for referrals, and I never accept payment for sending work elsewhere. I only recommend people I'd stand behind.

Do you work with other professionals, and can they refer people to you?

Yes to both. So much of this happens alongside the people already in the room: lawyers, financial planners, doctors, hospice and care teams, funeral directors, and therapists.

Think of it like a wedding coordinator, but for the end of a life. A coordinator keeps the florist, the caterer, and the officiant in sync so the couple can actually be present on the day. I do that for a death, so your family can be present too, instead of managing everyone.

If you're a professional who's met a family that needed more than your service could hold, I welcome the referral. I never pay for referrals and never charge for making one. The only thing that decides a referral, in either direction, is whether it's right for the family.

Getting started, pricing, and logistics

How do we begin?

Every service begins with a free 30-minute conversation, over Zoom, in person on PEI, or by phone. You can book it through the Begin a Conversation button on this page. There's nothing to prepare. I just want to understand your situation and what's feeling like too much right now.

From there I'll share what I think will help and why, and follow up with a proposal, plus a list of resources you may find helpful regardless of whether we end up working together or not. No follow-up sales call, and no pressure to go further. If the timing isn't right, that's okay. I'll be here when you're ready.

Is what I share with you private?

Yes. This work touches some of the most personal information there is, and I treat it that way. I keep records brief, store them securely, and share nothing about you with family, partners, or anyone else without your permission. What we handle together stays between us. You can read the full privacy policy at the bottom of this page.

Are you screened and insured?

Yes. Because this work brings me into your home and to the bedside, often with people who are vulnerable, I've completed a criminal record check and a vulnerable sector check, and I carry professional liability insurance. If you'd ever like to see any of it or get references, just ask.

Do we sign anything?

Yes, and it's there to protect you. Once we've agreed on what would help, you get a written agreement that lays out what's included, what isn't, and the cost, before anything begins. Each phase is clearly defined, so we both know exactly what we're doing together and what we're not.

Do you work in person or online?

Both. I work in person across Prince Edward Island, in homes, care facilities, coffee shops, and community spaces. I work virtually across North America over Zoom, and by phone, text, and voice message.

How does pricing work?

Each phase has a single session or visit to start with, and a package for steadier support, all listed on the Before, Beside, and Beyond pages. Prices are in Canadian dollars and may be subject to HST. Every situation is different, so we shape the right support around what you actually need, and payment plans are available.

I take on only a small number of families each month. That's deliberate. It protects my capacity and makes sure everyone I work with has my full attention when they need it most.

What if I can't afford this?

Each month I hold a few hours for people who can't pay for them. If that's you, just say so when you write. It stays between us, and the care is the same. Payment plans are available on the packages too.

Do you offer funeral or memorial ceremonies?

Personalized ceremony and celebrant services begin in November, once my celebrant certification is complete. In the meantime, I help families plan and shape meaningful memorials, celebrations of life, living funerals, and other events, and I can point you to trusted officiants if you need one now.

Still have a question I didn't answer?

That's exactly what the free conversation is for. Feel free to reach out when you're ready.
